I want to share with you some pictures of Carnaval. Carnaval is a huge celebration before Lent begins. It lasts for four days, beginning on a Saturday and ending on a Tuesday. There are many characters and costumes in Carnaval, such as the Reina (queen), King Momo, Monocuco, Garabatos, etc. Joselito is one of the characters. His "death" on Tuesday symbolizes the end of Carnaval. This year celebrations took place between Feb. 25th and 28th. During Carnaval, there is music, dancing, and lots of festivities with friends and family. My favorite part of Carnaval was dancing cumbia (a traditional dance). Here are some pictures of the Batalla de Flores (Battle of Flowers) on the Saturday of Carnaval, and some photos from the following days.
